March 2018: A Humble Beginning
I took the leap and created my first Discord server, despite being new to the platform. It was overwhelming, but I persevered and set up simple text channels.April 2018: Spreading the Word
I shared the invite with my Haikyuu Telegram group, convincing a few members to join. This sparked a steady growth in users, and I began utilizing other social media platforms to spread the word.Growth & Evolution
As the community expanded, I hired volunteer moderators, refined the server structure, and continuously improved the experience to meet the growing demands.October 2020: A Milestone Achieved
After three previous rejections (May 2018, March 2019, and April 2019), our dedication and hard work finally paid off! We were accepted into the Discord Partner Program, a testament to our community's strength and resilience.A Journey of Continuous Improvement
Our team's efforts didn't stop there. We continued to refine and enhance the community, driven by our passion for building a welcoming and engaging space for all members. From Zero to Hero: Building an Anime Community at Humber

Humber Anime Club

When I first applied to Humber College's Business - Marketing program, I noticed a striking absence - no anime club in sight! The existing clubs seemed inactive, and I saw an opportunity to fill the void. In August 2021, a term before my admission, I took the initiative to create the Humber Anime Club Discord server. My goal was to create a space for fellow Humber students and anime enthusiasts to connect, share their passions, and make new friends - including myself, as I eagerly awaited my first term in Winter 2022.Fast forward to January 2023, my team and I embarked on a mission to make the Humber Anime Club an official college club. Our efforts paid off in February 2023, when we hosted our first meeting, which drew an impressive 30+ attendees throughout the session!As the club continued to flourish, we reached a milestone of over 500 members. Eventually, I decided to pass the torch, resigning as Vice-President to allow new generations of students to shape the club into their own unique vision.Explore the memories below, featuring photos and videos from our in-person events, on-campus gatherings, and hangouts outside of school - a testament to the power of shared interests and friendship!

Dwain's Boba Cafe

Our server has undergone an incredible transformation since its humble beginnings in June 2018. Initially created as "Da Dwain Discord" (DDD), a playful nod to my initials, it started as a small but active community for my online friends. Although it lay dormant for a while, it was revived in March 2021 as a temporary hub for Haikyuu Volleycamp's virtual events.In November 2023, we embarked on a new chapter, reborn as "Dwain's Boba Café". This fresh start focused on building a vibrant community for my Humber connections while I was in school.As of June 2024, we've evolved into an 18+ only Discord server, embracing a wider range of topics and a more diverse community. Our expansion welcomes new members from various backgrounds, including online encounters, in-game teammates, in-person meetups, and friends of friends.

Our Mission

We aim to create a warm, inclusive environment for adults in the GTA to form lasting bonds and make unforgettable memories. We address a common problem many adults face: finding people to connect with and making new friends. Join us and become a part of our thriving community!
